This funeral urn was fired using a technique that comes from Eastern Europe. It is called obvara, or flour raku. It is a low-temperature firing that creates these organic designs in earth tones. Driftwood, collected from the banks of the St. Lawrence River, adds another earthy touch. The wood is washed and treated, then secured with brass wire.

As the patterns are obtained by carbonization (burning) it is recommended not to place the object in direct sunlight so that it does not discolor over the years.

All my pieces are unique creations and bear my HF creation hallmark. As they are made entirely by hand, they may have slight "flaws", but I make sure to photograph them from all angles.

Maintenance:

You can wash under water, but preferably just wipe with a damp cloth.
