Welcome to my site Hélène Fleury, ceramist, painter
Add beauty to everyday gestures with inventive, unique, original tableware
I was born in Témiscamingue, Quebec, Canada. Creations of all kinds have always been a natural necessity for me.
Art is a language and if you don't know the words you can't express what's on your mind.
To engage freely and joyfully in the work of form, one must know one's material intimately for something mysterious to happen: the work comes alive and is inhabited by a breath. This is as true for a bowl as for a master painting. For me, this approach is sufficient in itself and requires no intellectual discourse.
What emerges from such an object is beyond words.

"For the work to come to life, you have to know its material intimately"
Portraiture, sculpture, design and art direction of trompe l'oeil architectural murals have made up the bulk of a busy visual arts career.
Clay, discovered and loved at the age of eleven, was a very first source of income. Then there was the life of an artist and now a return to first loves.
The story continues, between painting and clay, in the beautiful country of Kamouraska.
